VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022: National Record Breaking Prize And 'Golden Running Step' Cup
The special prize including cash award and the “Golden Running Step” cup will be awarded to the runner who breaks the national record at the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022.
In 2021, the Race Organizing Committee (ROC) of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon, Vietnam's leading professional race, announced the National Record Breaking Prize with the expectation that new national records will be continuously set, bringing the marathon achievements in Vietnam close to those in the region and the world.
Currently, the national records in marathon are still set at 2:21:51 for men, achieved by runner Nguyen Chi Dong during the 22nd SEA Games held in Vietnam in 2003.
In the women's marathon, runner Hoang Thi Thanh holds the record with a time of 2:45:09 set at the 2016 National Athletics Championships in Hanoi.
The National Record Breaking Prize will be awarded to one man and one woman who break the above records at the 42.195-km distance (Full Marathon).
The honorary cup "Golden Running Step" bears the image of a gold-plated man runner in the moment of rushing forward, with his right foot as a pillar, showing determination and the best efforts in a sport that has attracted millions of Vietnamese people nationwide.
In order to support runners to create the miracles, the VPBank Hanoi Marathon's ROC has a plan for pacing at each track section.
Based on a flat track, blocked completely from traffic, with no sharp turns and in the extremely cool autumn weather, along with the highest standard of preparation for each stage of security, health, and pacing, the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022's ROC believes that runners can create miracles and a new national record will be set after 19 years, on October 16.
